Clients seek candidates with 1 to 7+ years of experience in the areas of patent prosecution, reexamination and strategic patent counseling. Some positions support IP litigation and emerging company corporate functions while others are in free-standing patent prosecution practice groups. Our clients require individuals with technical degrees in electrical engineering, computer science/engineering or physics. Candidates with mechanical engineering degrees along with significant software experience will also be considered by some clients. Strong records of academic success are required. Membership in the State Bar of California and U.S. Patent Bar are preferred by some clients and required by others.
An additional number of clients are seeking candidates with 2 or more years of experience in the areas of biotechnology patent prosecution, medical and mechanical patent prosecution, and wireless/telecommunications patent prosecution. Technical degrees (in some cases advanced graduate degrees) are required from the fields of biological sciences, electrical engineering, computer science/engineering, physics or mechanical or biomedical engineering. Membership in the California Bar is strongly preferred; membership in the Patent Bar is required.
